Last Sunday I had the pleasure of attending Bobbi Brown's new series, Skin Deep Beauty-an intimate conversation about beauty and skin care for medium to rich skin tones. To say the least, the information shared at this event was so enlightening!
This class was led by Bobbi Brown Pro Artist, Tia Hebron. Tia Hebron is a sought-after beauty expert who has been dubbed a beauty guru by Elle Magazine. From listening to Tia, it was very obvious that she is passionate about her craft, educating others, and being a loving mother to her daughter. Tia is entering her 18th year with Bobbi Brown cosmetics.
The conversation was held in a private room on the second floor of Nordstrom Westfield Annapolis. Upon entering the room, we were greeted by the Bobbi Brown team. Appetizers and champagne were provided for all guests as well. (Ok Nordys! Lol) We also received a Bobbi Brown Beauty Menu, which was a list Tia put together of products she loves and was going to touch on throughout the event.
The conversation began with Tia introducing herself. Sitting alongside Tia was special guest, Miss USA 2016 Deshauna Barber. Tia prepared questions to ask Deshauna related to makeup and skincare. Deshauna shared some of the struggles she has faced as Miss USA ( a woman of color) including makeup artists showing up unprepared to cater to her skin tone.
Tia asked Deshauna "What are some of your must-haves in your makeup bag just in case the makeup artist doesn't have it?" Deshauna replied, "Primer, Foundation, concealer, Bobbi Browns foundation stick as a contour stick and lip colors that compliment my skin tone." Next Tia asked about her skin care and what her routine was. Deshauna explained to us that she didn't wear a lot of makeup prior to competing in Miss USA but once she started competing she began to wear makeup more frequently and it began to take a toll on her skin. After the competition, her skin was in bad shape. Now she uses Mary Kay Timewise and has increased the frequency of her skin exfoliation routine. Deshauna also drinks 1 liter of water and a healthy smoothie daily. Of course, I have the ingredients used in her healthy smoothie. Her smoothie consists of:
Tia segued into a discussion on skin care and how it's often overlooked and introduced us to a host of Bobbi Brown products. Bobbi Brown's skin care products have been created to get skin in the best condition which decreases the need/dependability for a foundation. Tia stressed the importance for every woman to have a cleanser, eye cream, and moisturizer.
After learning about and sampling several products these are what I think are Bobbi Brown must haves:
Intensive Skin Supplement: An advanced, multi-benefit serum that improves skin's appearance as it helps prevent the visible signs of aging including dark spots and fine, dry lines.
Extra Repair Serum: A concentrated repair serum that comforts skin as it firms and moisturizes.
Hydrating Eye Cream: A quick-absorbing eye cream with moisturizers that melt onto the skin. Leaves the eye area soft, smooth, and refreshed for up to 24 hours.
Vitamin Enriched Face Base: A primer plus moisturization for smooth makeup application. This oil-free face formula, with Shea Butter, instantly hydrates, softens and cushions skin.
Soothing Cleansing Oil: Special blend of Jasmine Flower Extract and botanical oils dissolves surface impurities and makeup without disrupting skin's natural balance.
I'm going to add the hydrating eye cream and vitamin enriched face base to my makeup kit and the intensive skin supplement to my personal skin routine. Shout outs to Bobbi Brown for putting on an amazing event.
Creatively, Authentically Lo.
